Initial Thoughts and Decisions

After evaluating three magazines, I have discovered what words best when creating a magazine to appeal to a young, current demographic. Therefore, when creating my magazine, I will include the following things:

  • A bright vibrant, colour scheme, so magazine has a young feel and is exciting to my demographic of 15-25 year olds.
  • A catchy but short title, that creates a fun, fresh vibe, immediately revealing that the magazine is current and aimed at younger people.
  • A cover star that seems current and relevant, to allow the audience to keep up to date with current trends, as well as current music.
  • A puff that boosts the status of the magazine, as I believe that there are quite a few competitor magazines with a similar style and genre.
  • Multiple pictures on the contents page to stimulate the reader and allow them to visualise the articles and connect with the artists.
  • Very simplistic yet bold page numbers to ensure that the magazine is user friendly, so that the reader can navigate throughout it.
  • A quirky, yet legible font that will allow the reader to read it with ease, while still adding personality to the magazine.
  • A large, clear image on the double page spread to make it aesthetically pleasing, allowing the reader to connect with the artist.
  • Basic language that will be easy for the user to read as they are young and maybe slightly less educated than older readers
